Guided day trips to AfriSki

Please note all activities are ‘weather permitting’ & Passports are required.

Depart from Clarens early in the morning so that we can get across the border early enough to enjoy a full day at the Afriski resort. Travel via the scenic route from Clarens to the border post and clear border formalities. Valid passports are required and for travellers under 18yrs the ‘un-abridged’ birth certificate is required in addition to their passport.  During the covid pandemic a covid negative PCR test certificate is required not older than 72 hours, as well as a letter from the resort confirming your destination.

Take to the mountains now for a serious climb up the Passes to Afriski, which is at 3,222 metres above sea level so you will be climbing (or rather Pugsey the Ford Transit bus will be doing the work) for quite some time. The views are spectacular as you climb higher into the mountains and once there you will be able to boast that you visited Afriski and enjoyed lunch at the highest restaurant in Africa !  Or you can enjoy an affordable menu and refreshments at the Gondola restaurant at the foot of the ski slope.

For those who don’t ski but want to enjoy other Winter activities (June to end Aug) there is bum boarding and snow tubing.  Summer activities include paintball in the mountains, monster roller bikes, and beautiful walks to the river (optional extras).

We take time on the way back for you to capture beautiful photos as the mountain road twists and turns, and we only stop where it is safe to do so (not so easy on mountain passes). However, we know a couple of spots where it is safe to pull over. Otherwise it is possible to take photos from the vehicle as it is slow progress along these roads. Down the passes then to the border post and back to Clarens, arriving at approximately 5:30pm – 6pm depending on how long we stay up in the mountains. Our tour price includes the cost of our experienced and qualified driver/guide, the vehicle and all border fees.

In Lesotho you may use ZAR but you may receive your change in Maloti. Credit and Debit Cards are accepted at Afriski and at most centres in Lesotho.  An over border levy will apply to those purchases.
